None of these apps gives suggestions on alternatives to the product you’re scanning or have a list of let’s say toothpaste that are cruelty free. I suggest using a search based on what type of product we are looking for.

This app is almost useless. The scanner has not worked in months and still does not work. The search bar turns up nothing by category. I love the Beagle Freedom Project and my beagle, but not this app. Do better.

How much is this app?

This app works well to easily verify if a company has a cruelty free policy (scans quickly too)! Would you consider adding food products to your database?

Same issues expressed by a user a few months back that seemed to have been addressed by the developers but had not. Still sending me in circles with not allowing me to choose a new password or letting me log in by username and password I have stored. Help please.

Thank you for destroying this app. I can never use it again to support my beagles please fire your entire app development team and hire other SDEs that know what they’re doing. I can’t login. I can’t sign up. I can’t get into scan anything to this app. I miss the old app. Please bring it back, yes I’ve tried deleting the app and reinstalling it so please do not tell me to do that because it does not work.

I love this but can a developer pls write a review because it said that toms of maine toothpaste is not cruelty free even though it is leaping bunny certified? Please explain Thanks for replying I love this app it works now. Maybe make the app work a bit better. My dad is a software engineer so maybe he can fix it. But I use this a lot so ya FIVE STARS

This app used to be good. Not user friendly at all. Plus, having trouble resetting password. Very hard to navigate.

Can’t reset password, can’t provide feedback in the app - whenever I try to do either one after filling out all required fields it’s “Email, account Id, or password is empty.” When I go to scan anything the screen turns black. Trying to browse or search the directory is met with “Couldn’t retrieve the data.” At least the old version worked sometimes but this is TERRIBLE. EDIT: the app dev team worked with me to figure out why I was having issues. It’s very likely account-related caching for the app on my device and creating a new account got me up and running. It’s a breath of fresh air being able to use this app again!

Updated this website and it’s extremely slow, does not work well when I scan products, does not give me instant feedback and constantly asks for me to enter the product information. The old app worked so much better was a lot quicker and very informative. I constantly get a blank white screen when using this new app.

Great app, super helpful to be able to see which products are cruelty free. I love how the app lets me contact cruel companies directly.

The scanner never seems to work because the image is always blurry. The camera never focuses on the barcode. The app could use some fixes like making it more user friendly

I love using this app when I go shopping, made it easy to find cruelty free options of what I need. Only reason I docked a star is because you need a login and password to utilize it.

I’m surprised more people have not provided feedback here about this app. Every person I recommend it to has the same issues. It rarely scans or works. I love the idea of this so much! Please fix your glitches

I try to sign up with the same email and it says that it’s already registered. I then try to reset my password, it says that I’m not registered. Very confusing. Looks like this app hasn’t been updated in several years. It’s pretty much useless at this point. Hopefully someone will get on it and fix all the glitches but if not, there are other cruelty free apps people can use instead.

so basically i scanned a lot of stuff and it said that it was cruelty free and i was very surprised and it helps so much when i’m shopping! but i scanned my Secret deodorant and it says it’s not cruelty free but it is verified by PETA! same with covergirl, sauve, and maui! please update your things because they are either peta or leaping bunny verified!!

I wanted to use this app because it sounded useful and informative. The scanner would never focus! My camera app and every other app that uses the camera had no issue. This app itself will not. Ended up deleting it because I could never use it.

I like what this app stands for and the content. The interface could use sprucing up, but my biggest qualm is with the camera. My camera works perfectly outside of this app, but when I try to scan something it looks like the camera of a 2007 flip phone, and I have an iPhone 14. Hopefully something can be updated to make the resolution better. I would like to use this app way more but the camera does not pick up what I try to scan.

Cannot get the scan feature to work to save my life.

Love the idea, but camera refuses to scan barcode 9/10 times and doesn’t recognize over half the products. Kind of an unusable app

I’m trying to go cruelty free so I downloaded this app. However, a product by Paul Mitchell that has the cruelty free emblem in the label was marked as not cruelty free in the app. I then searched the app for Paul Mitchell and it said that the company is cruelty free.

So I was out shopping and I was using this app and it said that some products that were labeled cruelty free the app said they weren’t also said some were cruelty free I went to google it to find out they weren’t hopefully you guys get this fixed because I really think it’s a great idea

Hello I have a dove product and I looks at the back and it said: Cruelty free! PETA- And then I scanned it and it said it wasn’t pls fix this!

So not long ago, I didn’t know animal testing existed until this week because it was all over YouTube, And then I found this app, This app is the BEST!!! I’m so happy I found an app that can tell if a product is animal tested or not, most of my products were animal tested, I was so heartbroken, and Yes I found this app just now!! I’m a new member here and this is amazing, this app should get more rates! #SaveRalph

I love the idea of this app! I think it is executed perfectly but I hate how slow it is. It’ll reboot and lag an unusual amount of times.

I was trying to scan the products that I have at home and it says that the network that I’m using doesn’t let it scan and then it goes into a black page and doesn’t reload either. I was excited to try this but now, not anymore. I hope they can fix this

This app is not working. It always says that due to network issues they are unable to proceed with my request. It doesn’t matter if I hace data ir if I hace my wifi on

THANK GOD for this app! Finally, there is an app that quickly tells you if a product is cruelty-free or not!! It is easy to use, clear, and eliminates so much time I used to spend reading fine print on the label or googling the product company. I also LOVE how you can scan a barcode or search by company name or search by product category!! THIS IS A MUST-HAVE APP! I love this app so much that I recommended it to all my friends and they are obsessed with it too!!

this app works great! I’ve become more conscientious about purchasing cruelty free products and this app is easy to use. You just scan the barcode and it quickly tells you if they test on animals or not. I always recommend this to my friends!!

It says my email isn’t found when looking for password, then it says account already exists when trying to register.

Doesn’t work takes forever to scan can’t find products.

JUST got this app moments ago. Said multiple times over that my 10 year old, use everyday email address is invalid. Useless crap. Negative stars.

I paid for this app before it was free. It was an ok app, but I figured the money was going to a good cause. I don’t know how the Apple version works because I forgot my password. Entered email in the forgot password field, received “not a registered email.” Tried to create new acct w/ same email, but says user ID already registered. Cruelty Cutter doesn’t respond to Twitter inquiries. No way to contact them for help, unless the contact info available in the app... after you log in. My chief complaint with the Android version (and I assume the Apple version is similar) is the lack of search, poor browsing features, and it stored in my photo gallery pictures of the products I scanned. So if I scanned the barcode of a bottle of shampoo, it stored a picture of the product in my photos. And even when I deleted the picture, it would show up months later. I’m in search of a better app.

I emailed the team, asking for some specifics and clarification, and I really felt that the Cutter techs bent over backwards to help me understand: who, what, where, when, and why. ✨♥️🐷✨ Thank you, thank you! -Danielle

With many companies finally going cruelty free over the past year, I find myself relying less and less on this outdated, though otherwise wonderful app. The App hasn’t been updated in over a year; I hope the developer has updating plans on the horizon, so that this can once again become my go-to shopping companion.

The fiancé and I shopped all over Target using this app. We were so shocked at how much we were able to find that was cruelty free! Highly recommend this app!

I enjoyed using it u til I got a new phone and needed to recover password. It said there is no account with my email but when I go to make a new account it says it already exists. I can’t log in and use this app because of this.

As stated in another review I read about this app, you have to scan all products. Very time consuming when a quick google search can yield the same result. Would be nice to have access to the company names and products to avoid or buy instead of having to build your own database that’s not shared.

I am liking this app so far. The only issue I have been having is that when something g scans and is not verified in the system. I try to select the option to have it reviewed but my iPhone won’t allow the option to send the email that pops up and I’m not sure how to fix that? I looked in troubleshooting and found nothing, then tried sending this as a question through the troubleshooting support and the submit button won’t work so I can’t get the question to submit. I double checked my app settings to see if I had something blocked but from what I can see it doesn’t look like it

Just downloaded this app and it’s great! No bugs or anything so far. I learned many of my things are tested on animals...so I’ll buy other things.. and I love animals!

It’s a pretty good app, I like the scanning feature but honestly it’s kinda really outdated. It looks so old and is laggy. I feel like it can be a really good app if it was developed further, perhaps similar layout to the app GoodOnYou (check that app out so good!!). Overall love the concept and actually use it but just needs work

I’ve scanned several items that aren’t in the database. When I click on the “add product” button, an error message pops up “no email configured.” Nowhere on the app can I find additional info on this. I’m signed in with my email so this is frustrating! Otherwise happy with the app, disappointed in so many companies.

This is awesome! Please keep fixing issues, this is great and saves me time and money. You should give “alternatives” to products too

This app is really awesome and has shown me a lot about being cruelty free. I have converted a lot but one thing I noticed is when I scanned the Love, Beauty, and Planet shampoo, I couldn’t believe my eyes. It said it wasn’t cruelty free but on the back of the bottle it talks about being 100% vegan and cruelty free. That’s basically what the whole company is about! So was there a mistake or what?
